Introduction to Content Management Systems (CMS)

A Content Management System(CMS) is web-based software built into your web site that allows you to make changes to you site quickly and easily. A typical installation would allow an administrator to log in and edit the pages, images, or other content.  Classic Ridge Designs primarily works with Drupal and Wordpress Content Management Systems. Both are widely-used, free, open-source software, so you don't have to worry about ongoing costs.

Here is an introduction to each:

Drupal - Drupal was built from the start as a content management system, and provides the perfect foundation for a more complex site with virtually limitless potential for the addition of capabilities and features. It is typically our #1 choice for simple or complex sites.

Wordpress - Designed initially as a blogging platform, Wordpress has been adapted to work very well as a content management system. It has an easy to understand administrative system and is particularly effective when used on simpler web sites.

In either CMS, you will be editing the content of your site using a WYSIWYG text Editor, very similar to Miscrosoft Word or other word processing software you are probably already familiar with.  Unsure of which system is for you? Let our experts help you decide and partner with Classic Ridge Designs on your web project. Click here to contact us today.
